Asah Hill and Panggian Hill

Want an unspoiled Bali experience that’s not far from Kuta or Denpasar? You’ve come to the right place!

Asah Hill and Panggian Hill are excellent selections. They’re only ~1.5 hours from Denpasar in the village of Bugbug, Karangasem. There are plenty of food options in the area offering local cuisine, noodles, snacks and soft drinks. Locals and tourist alike love this local adventure.

The trip can be made by car or motorbike, but we recommend motorbike since some of the road is unpaved. Expect dusty roads during dry season, and muddy roads during wet season.

The drive takes us through cascading hills and beautiful landscape. We’ll pass other attractions along the way such as Bali Safari and Marine Park, Goa Lawah, Tenganan Candidasa beach village, and others.

There are two routes to Asah Hill and Panggian Hill. One brings us toward Virgin Beach and Perasi Beach (white sand), while the other offers steep cliffs with beautiful views of Bugbug Beach and lush palm trees. Some visitors choose to camp (you can rent camping equipment and firewood on-site); this way, they can enjoy sunrise and sunset from the viewpoint.
